Blogging for SEO (6 posts)

  • How often do you blog or post fresh content from your site for SEO and so that your site gets crawled often?
I have a 3dcart website which offers unlimited feeds which allows me to not only blog but post FAQ’s, New’s and Resource posts to my site to get crawled more often. It is recommended that you blog at least 3 times per week. I manage to achieve this by using a combination of the above techniques. I quicken the process by submitting the link to my best posts to Google and Bing so they can crawl my site sooner. What techniques do you utilize for providing fresh content?

  • @ Frugal Diva Desingz I know that 3 times a week is the recommended amount, but let me play devils advocate. If your content is really valuable why not put 80% of your time in promoting it and spending 20% of your time creating it. If you can promote at beter places (where your potential buyers are) instead of building it and hoping that people will come (and finding it by Google) wouldn’t that be more productive and give beter results? I heard this concept when I listened to the podcast Social Pros (episode 12) by Jay Baer when he interviewed Derek Halpern. So what do you think?

  • Frugal Diva Designer — What does it mean exactly to submit the link to Google and Bing … how do you do that?

Joost, What sites do you suggest are better places to promote your blog posts than Google and Bing?

    Thanks! Interesting discussion.

  • Joost,That is an interesting perspective on blogging. I do try to promote my posts by syndicating my content, sharing on social media, RSS to Email newsletters, etc. I have also recently joined the Blog Frog community where I can interact with more of my target audience as well. Do you have any suggestions on how else I can promote my content? My demographic is women aged 21 to 44 years old.Hello Kathy! You have to 1st verify your domains by installing the HTML codes from both Bing and Google or verifying the cname if you have access to the settings.Next, you have to go to the following links and simply add the URL and follow any steps necessary.Google only requires the url after the beginning of your URL. Ex: /blog.html. You have to set up a Webmaster account. Use the following link to submit your URL’s. https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/googlebot-fetchFor Bing go to the following link and sign in with your Windows Live ID. I use Hotmail. https://ssl.bing.com/webmaster/Index/SubmitUrls/If you need any assistance please visit my site and use any of the chat widgets available. I am usually up pretty late so as long as it indicates I am online please feel free to contact me.Miss Frugal Divahttp://www.frugaldivadesignz.com

  • @KathyI think that if you look good at your target audiance and find out where they are on the Internet you can be able to target them better. First of all you want them to shop with you at your site, but realise that not everyone comes to your site wants to shop right away. If you can get them to sign up for your newsletter that is the first step to stay in touch. But it all comes down to being relavant and valuable for your target audiance. This is of course just the basics, but forgotten many times.

How do you promote better? Take a look at your CRM or mailinglist and try to find out if people are on other social networks than the one they are connected on with you. If you emailing list is very active on Twitter and you are not using this you can start here but stay relavant and valuable. Same goes for Linkedin and Facebook and Pintrest. Start with synchronising  your networks. If you can get a profile out of your CRM of your customers and you conclude that they are all vice presidents of R&D, then check profiles in Twitter for this info and try to target them.  Go for the nich networks if your audiance is there. Ask them where they find there information besides your side and join the discussion. Some friend of mine was looking for doctors in India. Through a slideshare presentation I found out there was a special medical social network in  India.

    Hope this answers your question.

  • @frugaldivadesig You mentioned  ”My demographic is women aged 21 to 44 years old”, but I think you need to ad: the ones that are looking for services your site offer. That narrows the field. You have a email news letter so maybe the tips I mentioned to Katy can work for you. If your CRM holds information about the buying cycle and the time it takes from showing interest to making a purchase and you know wich questions people ask in this process, you can target these with your content in your newsletter and on your site. Maybe you can change the newsletter from general subjects to a so called drip campaign to get people faster to the point of buying. And make a second newsletter for those who already bought from you.
