Blogging and Google + (9 posts)

  • Hello team:

We have created a Google+ page for our business (Media Contour) and I am curious, since we have no friends on G+ is it even beneficial to post there yet? Will we get an SEO boost for just submitting content onto Google?
    Thanks, Daniel

  • Hi @daniel-clauser.  From everything I’m reading, it definitely pays to post to Google+.  From my personal experience, when I search my name on Google, it shows my Google+ profile to the upper right with my latest posts, which is pretty good promotion for free!  I’ve also seen search listings from my posts.  Hope this helps.

  • @daniel-clauser Everything that  @dianebianchi says and I would add that you can post longer pieces of content. Be sure to add an image I find everything gets clicked with an image.

  • Yes, @ptwylie, images definitely are important.

  • I wrote a article on  http://dynamitemarketingonline.com/social-media/leverage-the-power-of-google-to-grow-your-business/ but I think you should for sure post to google + as well as your other social channels and people will find you on Google Plus.
    Hope that helps

  • Hi,

I agree with posting on Google+ now even if you don’t have followers as yet but also help people to begin following by adding the button to your site obviously and as  @joseph-pfiffner says people will begin finding your business.

It is just like any other social network.

  • Thank you for the help gang! Much appreciated.

  • @daniel-clauser I did a little experiment. All the posts I posted on Google+ seemed to get higher traffic. I am not sure if it was the content or keywords but the posts I sent to google+ got more traffic to my blog. Pls remember it was an experiment on my part just to see what happened but consistently got higher views on google+

Google can’t crawl Facebook posts like they can Google+ posts so they do show up faster in search results.  As far as them ranking higher, freshness matters but only for so long (obviously).  You need people to engage with the posts you make.  Your posts get refreshed in a sense when people engage with them.

You won’t get an SEO boost to your website for posting on Google+.  The content on your blog/website needs to be +1′d so it’s important to have your social buttons visible.  Asking people to +1 your content on Google+ or after a post is a good idea and can always help!
