Blog Title How To? (11 posts)

Topic tags: post titles, SEO
  • Is it okay to use your key word 2 times in your title, or has that been scrapped. For example, for the key word Writing Success -  “Writing Success, 5 Tips to Improve Your Writing Success”.  Would this perform better, SEO wise, rather than having just 1 Writing Success?

I have tryed to be a bit more creative with the titles of the posts but am wondering if it will hurt the SEO.

  • @lkellandmay I would try taking the extra characters that you are using duplicating one keyword phrase and instead try adding a second keyword phrase like 5 Tips to Improve Your Writing Skills for Writing Success.

  • @lkellandmay  Kristi’s advice is solid you don’t want to overkill the keyword its a little obvious. Dont forget to use other keyword elements to help strengthen the page, eg:

    1. Images alt “” tags
    2. Sub Titles
    3. Keyword Density. etc…
The title is not the only place for strengthening keywords….

  • Thank you @kristi and @geoffrey.

Is it ok to go back and rename some titles in my blog to help it along?

  • I recently renamed a title in a blog post but when I checked the link to that blog the old title name is in the link. Is there a way to change the link or am I stuck? I currently use blogger, as soon as I get my hosting verified I will be switching my blog to Wordpress.

  • I’ve had good SEO success by using some combination of the following.

    • Key words in the title.
    • Posting a picture with a tag, description and/or caption. I rarely use captions but it is an option.
    • Under the picture I use Headline 1 or 2 with some variation of the key words. Sometimes the words can be used in the first or second paragraph.
I don’t use the key words quite the same way though and I make sure the usage is genuine and not forced.

I’m often not nearly that purposeful and I still get pretty good SEO results..

  • First of all you should ask yourself if your headline is engaging for your readers, not for the search engines. I’ve experienced that the best performing headlines are the “How to” and the “numbers” ones (5 good reasons to…), but you can also use more creative titles, maybe stimulating some sort of feeling or curiosity, maby just asking a question.I think a keyword repeated in the title won’t be good both for the readers and for the search engines cause it could be considered weird and over optimised.  @kristi-hines gave you a good advice, but I think using your keyword once in title, in the first line of the post, in the H1-H2, the url and images alt would be sufficient.

  • @margherita-nieri I agree that we should write for the audience not the SEO engines. Let’s assume they know what they are doing and will find great content. Put the energy into Helping readers — not manipulating the plays in a numbers game.

@kristi-hines Her formula is — as she says — sufficient.

  • What title would make you want to read further? @judithgotwald @margherita-nieri are spot on with writing for your readers. You’re sure to hit SEO that way, especially with Google. Titles are headlines – and the purpose of a headline is to grab. Subtitles can do the same, and even show your sense of humor about the whole thing. Once you have the title, the article just naturally follows behind.

  • You can check Your title emotional value to the target audience using “Emotional Marketing Value Headline Analyzer” (created by advanced marketing institute).

But I find it working not that well in practise. Still quite interesting tool

  • Remember Google has cubicles filled with linguistic PHD’s helping the spider understand what you are trying to say. – write naturally and they will come
