  • Do you know what it is? Do you do blog outreach campaigns? (grouphigh offers it) How helpful and how often?

  • @deairby Up late/early?
I clicked through. Powerful blog tool! I like it. Hope others with experience will give more info.

  • @deairby I don’t know about that particular service, but blog outreach in general is when you want another blog to talk about something in particular.  For example, businesses use blogger outreach campaigns to get bloggers to write about their new products / services.  New businesses might want bloggers to introduce their business to their audience.  Bloggers releasing eBooks / products use blogger outreach to get more exposure for their products.

Some good posts on outreach best practices include:

If you sign up to sites like BlogDash (http://www.blogdash.com/) as a blogger, you are saying that you are open to businesses contacting you to write about their products and (possibly) receiving free products to review.  If you sign up as a business, it will help you find bloggers with the right kind of audience for your products / services.

  • @kristi-hines Kristi, as usual, you are the queen of knowledge!!! Thanks for your exceptional help! I just might make it with help like yours!

  • @deairby I needed a lot of help in the beginning too which is why I love helping others!  :)

  • Wow. Never heard of Blogdash before.<how does one blog for over 10 yrs and not know these things.>Thanks @Krisit-hines, again.

Also, mentioning here again, I’d love to be able to bookmark.

  • One cannot denie the necessity for such venues. If all involved are in agreement as to the, “kosherness” of the practice it could be a win-win situation. Everyone, please stay tuned.

  • @kristi-hines looks like it cost money for blogdash. Is that just for the businesses looking for bloggers?

  • @deairby It’s free for bloggers… businesses looking for bloggers have to pay though.  :)

  • thanks, that’s what I thought but couldn’t find confirmation on their site…I must be blind! @kristi-hines

  • I signed up for Blogdash but have been unable to “claim” the page has a 404 error I hit report and nothing comes up. Any suggestions?

  • Kristi, did you see Celeste’s question? @kristi-hines I signed up for Blogdash but have been unable to “claim” the page has a 404 error I hit report and nothing comes up. Any suggestions?  @celestewhitehead Celeste, to make sure people know to respond to your post, add their names in here by clicking on their names on the top right corner of their block. They will be notified that they were mentioned.

  • @deairby @celestewhitehead I would just contact them (http://www.blogdash.com/contact) and let them know.  I don’t remember having any problems when I signed up, but it’s been several months.

  • @deairby awesome thank you :)   @kristi-hines I have but have not heard back I will try again :) TY.

  • @kristi-hines Those are some great links Kristi.  @deairby Blogger outreach varies depending on what you want the bloggers to talk about. Sites like Blogdash, BloggerLinkUp and some of the blogging clubs are a great place to start.

When we do blogger outreach for a client we learn who the bloggers are, what their networks look like, how much traffic their blog gets and other metrics to decide if they really have a following of readers and influence or have a relatively small or un-engaged readership.

It’s a lot of work but after a while you learn who the bloggers are who will really deliver a heartfelt post and the ones whop will just regurgitate your press release as well as the ones who will reach the most people.

If you don’t put much work into it you might as well just send them all a press release and hope for the best.

As a blogger myself, I toss press releases out after barely scanning them, but if I get an email complementing my blog and asking for help I’m more likely to at least read it.

  • thanks for your input! @jfouts
