I had installed NextGen Gallery into one of my wordpress sites and have discovered that it is causing issues with the latest version 3.4.1. I haven’t noticed an update for the plug-in and wondered if there is another gallery that you might use.
I use the 2011 theme and want to display some of the graphic work I have done for Timeline covers and welcome pages.

@deereinhardt Have you looked into an actual portfolio theme? This post lists about 70 of them.

They will, for the most part, have image galleries built in that shouldn’t cause any conflicts with the theme itself.

I have also used Coppermine which is a free addition with most WP hosts like Blue Host. Then your gallery would be an address like http://yourblogname.com/Gallery and have the default Coppermine theme. But it’s a nice gallery.
You can also use a theme with a slider and then have it link to to your Coppermine gallery as well. Sort of use the Slider as a “featured image” area and link to your main Gallery.

You could look at SlickrFlickr : http://www.slickrflickr.com – it is one of our plugins. It works by displaying your photos you have uploaded to Flickr.
