Best way to track your affiliate conversions (6 posts)

  • Hi there!

I am looking for the best way to track my conversions. What tools and methods can you recommend me?I have an affiliate account but I still find it a bit difficult to check where my conversions are coming from.

For me the most important thing to know is from where (referrer) the user came and if he clicked on an affiliate link or not and if he actually bought/signed up for something.

Thanks a lot for your time and suggestions in advance!Chris

  • @christian-eiermann hmm this is not one we have gone into too much depth on, I did a quick search for affiliate conversion tracking as I am sure you did. I look forward to seeing hat our resourceful club members come up with!

  • Hi Glen, thanks for your help. I did a long google research and found some tools that might be able to do the job. Here is the result of my research: Affiliate-Tracking.

Some of them are quite expensive. It doesn’t make much sense for me at the moment to pay 100 USD or more for the service. Hopefully there will be something more inexpensive on the market.

  • Hm! My experience after a few days with SocialMediaExaminer Networking Clubs is the following: I receive a lot of friendship request from people I don’t know and people that never even introduce themselves. No expert found so far. I haven’t even received a small hint that could help me find a solution to my question. I had high expectations but to receive helpful advice I probably need to go somewhere else :(

  • @christian-eiermann Hi Christian. This forum doesn’t have a lot of affiliate marketers from what I can tell. But as an affiliate marketer myself, I find it tough to figure out where real affiliate conversions come from. You can install event tracking in Google Analytics that will show you where someone has come from that clicked on a particular affiliate link, but that still doesn’t tell you whether someone actually purchased the product once they left your site. And there are lots of click trackers for affiliate links, but again, they don’t tell you whether someone purchased the product.

The best I have done is looking at the information from different affiliate sites. Shareasale, for example, tells you what URL a click came from that led to a sale. What I’ve learned from that is review posts (duh) create the best conversions. Ejunkie and Clickbank do not offer much to work with. Shareasale also lets you see an overall history of clicks vs. purchases which can help you determine what types of products work best with your audience.

Anyway, I’m sure that’s why you haven’t gotten many answers so far – affiliate conversion tracking is a tough cookie to crack for anyone. It might be one for an affiliate specific forum or something like Warrior Forums where there are a lot of affiliate marketers.

  • Hey Kristi! Thanks a lot for your insights. I will have a look at warriorforum.com ad try to find some affiliate related forums for further advice. Thanks for taking your time to explain the situation
