Best Way To Deliver Free PDF From Opt-In? (6 posts)

  • Hi folks,

Hope all is well with everyone!

I am just getting one of my project sites going and creating my free giveaway for opting in.

Can you please suggest the best ways to deliver the PDF to people who opt-in? I do have an aweber account… if that is best.

    Thank you!
    Dr. Nicki

  • We send an email welcoming them that’s always in draft form ready to go, and in it is link for them to view/download from our website. Very simple body copy:
Thanks for joining us at Where Writers Win.
Updates are sent on “odd” days of the month.
As promised, here’s the link to our free Social Media Savvy cheat sheet:

Enjoy and here’s to your continued success!

  • So you upload the PDF to your website and that creates a link you put in the email?

  • @nicole-steinberger – If you are using aweber you can add the PDF  as an attachment to the email right within aweber itself.

Here is a screenshot from my account  where I have done that.

  • Oh, that’s interesting Liz…
So they would open the PDF as an attachment?
    I don’t think I’ve seen that.
Do you find that preferable to providing a link?

    Thanks,
    Nicole

  • Hi Nicole, I guess it all depends on the size of your PDF.

If you attach it to an Aweber email, the PDF has to be smaller than 1m.

If you upload it to your hosting account it has to be smaller than 5 to 10MB.

I use Amazon S3 for all my e-book downloads, because they’re usually too larger to attach to an email, or upload to my hosting account.

However, sometimes you can place the PDF in a zip file in order to condense the file. Then attach it to your email auto-responder.
