Whenever I wrap up a blog post, I spend the next 10 minutes or so adding it to social book-marking sites, submitting it to ping services, and generally submitting it to my other social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, etc) as needed.

What other steps are there to take in giving each post its best chance right out of the gate?

In addition to social media, I also send it out to our email list of about 600 and growing, and I post it on blogcatalog.com.

Another great way is to list your blog with services like technorati. Anything you can do to gain exposure is a plus.

@ryansegovich If it’s something I really want to spread, I’ll share it on the major social sites (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+), then on the sites that have groups, I’ll share it within groups (Facebook, LinkedIn).  

After that, I like to do blog commenting on blogs enabled with CommentLuv or Livefyre where they show your latest post link beneath your comment.  Then your blog post link would show up like this.

@butchbryant I need to get more active in the groups I’m in, but with most I get a good response when I share a post.  I just make sure to go in and respond to the comments in the group about the post so they know I’m active and not just linking & leaving.

I’ll share a post to as many groups I think it fits in.  So if I have an Analytics post and I’m in 5 groups on Analytics, I will share it to them all.
