Artist client needs FREE theme for event/class registration & payment (4 posts)

  • Artist client needs FREE event registration theme for Calendar-based class registration/payment. This is a pro bono client and I can only use free stuff for her.

    Her competitors have them and she wants one, too. However, her competitors’ sites were all custom designed (one is no longer taking clients) and obviously NOT free.

    Buyers/students go to the website, see a calendar with slick graphics/photos/icons representing each class, click on a date/class to register for a class, and up pops a pop-up class description with photos/graphics and a Paypal/credit card button to pay.
    Do yall know of any FREE Wordpress event registration theme or plug-in that comes close to this?

  • @atlantarobin Have they tried any of these event plugins? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/event-calendar

  • Thanks, Kristi. Followed the link and checked those out. Some very good and I would use them, but she’s looking for a calendar that has images on each date of the calendar.

    Found one from your link where if you click on the date, a popup appears and you can place images on the popup, as well as click on a Paypal button to pay, but still no images on the calendar itself.

    This client and their competitors are artists… they like to see art and images… and they want it on the front of the calendar.

    I tried to fabricate one myself, but only found a free theme where I could place 6 across a column, not 7. Thought I’d link it directly to a paypal payment page, but still can’t find anything with a 7 column setup. And hey, I’m no programmer, but I do know how to insert images and make links…

    Know any 7-column themes that I might be able to finagle into something that might work? It won’t give her all the back office info that a booking program would, but it would give her what she thinks she wants.

    @kristi-hines

  • Also, I promised her I would find something “out of the box” and easy, with no html editing or anything she can’t do.

    She’s had problems in the past with sites created for her that she couldn’t edit or fix and couldn’t pay to have fixed. So I’m strictly finding something that will be easy for me to teach her to use all by herself. And… that’s Wordpress (my requirement). I told her she’ll never be at a loss to find someone to help her online with Wordpress.
