Anyone know how to fix a broken Twitter counter? (5 posts)

    Hi, I’m wondering if anyone knows how to fix a broken Twitter counter. 

    I re-did my Wordpress blog early this month and I also switched host providers. It seems that the Twitter counter broke at that point and everything went back to zero. But even since then, I’ve blogged several times and noticed my tweets go up, and then suddenly last week, the counter broke again and went back to zero. Not sure what to do, so now I’ve just removed the counter altogether. Anyone had experience with this before? What can I do to fix it? Thanks.

    Hey Patricia – I assume you mean the retweet button?

    This usually happens when Twitter can’t find your server and it usually has to do with either performance issues on your server or page URL settings.

    For example, did the configuration on WordPress change?  Was your old site showing yourname.com/page/ and the new one is yourname.com/page (without the / )

    Carefully check those settings.

    @patricia-redsicker I agree with  @mike-stelzner – it sounds like the URL’s / permalinks might have changed.  Even the slightest bit of change can mess up the social sharing counts.
