Affiliate Income – How Important Is It To You? (7 posts)

  • Ana Hoffman at Traffic Generation Cafe puts out a monthly accounting of her revenue from her blog (isn’t that nice of her?). Here’s the latest

Her affiliate income is more than double her advertising income.
Do you generate affiliate income from your blog? How important is it to your revenue strategy?

  • I have some affiliate income – Aweber (about $200/3 months) – Autorespond – managementboek (mostly selling my own book) $25/monthThis will get more attention later this year when I am at 2,000 visitors/day :)

  • It seems like affiliate programs are really the way to go, when it comes to monetizing a blog. Everything I see indicates that ad networks aren’t worth it because very few bloggers can get to the volume of traffic required to earn anything substantial.

Ana Hoffman’s blog doesn’t get mind-blowing traffic numbers. But I’m sure a lot of people would be pleased to get to her level of income.

  • @mspseudolus Ana has built a very loyal following on her blog – while she may not get a high traffic volume, she does have strong core audience that believes in the products she promotes.

For me, affiliate income is a bonus every month.  I budget everything around what I earn as a freelance writer, but I do some affiliate product promotions that send in a steady amount per month extra.  That income is earned off of posts I did months or even years ago.

  • @kristi-hines That’s right. I think that building credibility and authority is essential before affiliate programs can really work. Both you and Ana have that in flying colors :)  And building credibility and authority seems like a much more obtainable goal than getting to a hundred thousand or more monthly visitors (what you’d need at a minimum for advertising revenue to be anything noticeable).

  • @Kristen-Lambersten i looked after the ana’s Affiliate marketing progress, that is fabulous progress end of march, Actually she took the absolute products which can sell in online ( I mean the correct products). But she did the correct act of a affiliate marketer, Outsourcing for social bookmarking, because social bookmarking killing our own time for building those links. :D Now i’m going to be a fan of ana :D

  • I agree that affiliate marketing is the way to go. I was frustrated with all of the crap out  there though. I had the problem of trying to do this part time with no list to market to, and I was having no luck driving traffic to my unattractive blog.  Being that I was doing this part time I didn’t have the time to build/design a blog, seo, advertise, build a list, create swipes, set up sales funnels, and so on.  Then I found empower network and I couldn’t be happier. They do most of this for you and teach you the rest.  They also offer 100% commissions with their products and allow you to promote anyone’s products you want on their system. I haven’t found an affiliate program out there yet that does.  Here’s my blog and if you want to find out more watch the video here.
